Is it really that important to always wear eyewear?
Yes! UV light can cause significant damage to the cornea and retina of your eyes, resulting in cataracts or worse. Your eyes don’t have the capacity to produce melanin for protection like our skin does. And your ultra-thin eyelids don’t block ultraviolet rays. Neither do coins, cotton balls or anything other than federally-approved eyewear for indoor tanning. Protection now is the key.
Does a tanning lotion really help me tan better?
In a word, YES! Indoor tanning lotions ensure that your skin is best prepared for its exposure to tanning rays, and maximize the tanning experience for smooth, soft skin with darker results.
LOTION: Rub it in! Using a lotion designed for indoor tanning promotes:
- Proper skin care, to rejuvenate skin cells for noticeably younger looking skin.
- Up to 50% darker results
- Hydration, for softer, smoother skin hours after you tan.
AVOID BURNING: Follow the instructions your Bella Tan Tanning Specialist gives you to avoid burning. Burning actually turns OFF your skin’s ability to tan and will work against you in achieving your goals.
MOISTURIZE: Shower or take a bath three hours after you tan. Pat your skin dry and apply your favourite Tan Extender to lock in moisture and maintain the life of your tan.
Can I tan with tattoos?
With a fresh tattoo, chemicals were injected into your skin. This can make that area very sensitive to UV exposure. To tan with a healing tattoo, we recommend either covering the tattoo up completely, or don’t tan at all until the skin has healed.
Once the skin has healed, the chemicals have lost any ability to photosensitize. The tattoo will start fading a little with exposure to UV light, whether it comes from tanning beds or the sun. You can preserve those tattoos by using a Tattoo Fade Shield, an SPF lip balm, or a tattoo protection indoor lotion.
