Now that Victoria Day has gone by, the school year is in the home stretch.
I know it has been a hard year for everyone trying to do their schooling on-line.
It has been hard for the teachers too! I know - I treat a number of teachers and have
seen their neck and upper back muscles.
Here are a few recommendations for helping your body;
- Get up and stretch/walk at least once an hour
- Drink water regularly, especially if you are talking a lot or have bad allergies
- Try some yoga moves (see demonstrations on youtube)
- Make sure you blink your eyes once in a while when on the computer
- Focus your eyes on distant items ie. outside your home . This allows the muscles in the eyes to change focal points.
-Make sure your monitor is elevated to a good height so your head/neck doesn't look down all day.
- Add a low back cushion or rolled up towel to your chair if it doesn't have enough lumbar support.
- Some companies are giving their employees money to improve their home offices; if this is the case, have a look at stand/sit desks. They change the stresses on your spine throughout the day.
Keep thinking happy thoughts and enjoy the spring/summer weather.
